General Information
Is the course walker friendly?
We are often asked if walkers are welcome and we happily say ‘yes!’ We just ask that everyone maintain a 16-minute mile pace. If you are unable to maintain that pace, we will ask you to move to the sidewalk and finish the race obeying the traffic laws as we re-open the roads.
Is MO’ Cowbell Marathon a Boston Marathon qualifying course?
You bet! This USATF Certified Course can be used as a qualifier for other races such as Boston, New York and London marathons.
Is there a course time limit?
Yes. The half marathon course route re-opens to traffic at a rolling schedule according to a 16 minute-per-mile pace beginning 20 minutes after the official race start. The full marathon time limit restrictions are 6.5 hours. The finish line will officially close at 2 p.m. The time limit rules will be strictly enforced, if you need clarification before registering, please contact us at info@mocowbellrun.com.
Any participant who does not complete the event in which they are registered will be listed as “Did Not Finish,” or “DNF.” This list will be separate from the official results.
Where are the restrooms along the course?
There will be port-a-potties at the start/finish line as well as at every water station approximately every 2 1/2 miles along the course.
Is there a minimum age requirement?
You must be at least 14 years old to participate in the Marathon, Half Marathon and Half Marathon Relay. Anyone under 14-years-old, with documented running experience (ie: has a finish time for a comparable race), may be allowed to race in MO’ Cowbell on a case-by-case bases. Permission can be granted by race officials prior to registering. Email info@mocowbellmarathon.com.
Are bikes, rollerblades, or strollers allowed on the course? What about headphones? Can my pet run with me?
Rollerblades/inline skates, bikes, motorized vehicles, and pets on the course are prohibited. Strollers/baby joggers are permitted on a case-by-case basis with permission of the Race Director.
What is your weather policy?
INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
The event organizers reserve the right to alter or cancel the event due to inclement weather if conditions are deemed to be unsafe. Please note refunds will not be issued in the event of a weather-related cancellation.
COMMUNICATION & WEATHER ACTION PLAN
Communication:
Announcements will be made over the PA system at the event. As we are able, we will communicate delays and schedule updates on Facebook and Instagram. Please follow @MOCowbell for real-time updates.
Weather Procedures:
If lightning is detected within 20 miles of the venue we’ll enter into a “Heads Up” mode, watching the weather pattern to see if the lightning is moving towards the venue.
If lightning is detected within 10 miles or less we will begin safety procedures and encourage participants and spectators to seek shelter. The course and Athletes’ Village area (including the tent area) must be completely cleared by the time lightning is within 6 miles.
The start will be delayed until the storm has passed or 30 minutes after the last lightning strike is detected at a distance greater than or equal to 10 miles. We’ll do our best to communicate a “restart time” giving athletes adequate time to get warmed up and to the starting line.
Post-Race Information

Finishers will be able to view and purchase their photos from their individual results page. The link to the results page can be found on MO’ Cowbell’s home page the day after the race.
